14 Things To Try in September…

Spring time has long been regarded as the time of year that symbolises renewal, re-birth, growth, new beginnings and a fresh start. It’s also the perfect time of year to become open to inviting changes (big and small) and new ways of being into our lives. In this post, we share some new things to try in September, to celebrate the start of a new season…. and a new you?

15 things to try in September

1. FINISH THAT BOOK!
Einstein once said “Imagination is more important than knowledge” and Benjamin Franklin was quoted as saying “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest”. Fiction or non-fiction – finish that book you never got round to reading to the end; either way, you’ll expand your mind!

2. UNKEPT NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS?
What goal did you set out to achieve on 1st January that still remains on your ‘to do list’ for this year? On 1st September, you’ll have exactly 120 days until the end of the year to tick it off your list. At the very least, you’ll take the first step towards achieving it. Start today and keep that promise to yourself – you are worth it. And it’s never too late.

4. SPRING CLEAN – LITERALLY!
Clutter in your physical space equals clutter in your mental space. Spring signals the time of year to take a good look at all aspects of your life and let go of the things that no longer serve you to make room for something new. De-cluttering applies not only to your physical possessions, but to emotions, relationships and habits that have all passed their use by dates.

5. HOST A POT LUCK DINNER OR PICNIC
With our busy schedules, it’s all too easy to put social time with family and friends on the back burner. Book a date to reconnect with the important people in your life over a nourishing meal and enjoy some good belly laughs and uplifting conversation.

6. HAVE A TECHNOLOGY DETOX
GET OUTSIDEEver noticed how much time you can waste checking Facebook, googling random information or unnecessarily scrolling through emails? Schedule a day or a weekend to unplug your devices and connect with nature instead. Explore your local walking tracks, find a hidden waterfall, walk barefoot outside and be present with the beauty that the outdoors has to offer.

7. REINVENT YOUR LOOK
Feeling like your make up palette is ho hum? Have you been um-ming and ah-ing about that new hair style?  Book in with a stylist and update your look. Find a haircut that accentuates your features, explore colours that work for your skin tone and clothes to suit your body shape; and enjoy getting ready in the mornings again.

8. LEARN SOMETHING NEW
Whether it’s a new language, cooking class, short course or public speaking, research shows that doing things that are unfamiliar and cognitively challenging, improve memory, slow ageing and boost self-esteem. Your grey matter will love you!

9. HOW TOXIC ARE YOUR SELF CARE PRODUCTS?
It takes just 26 seconds for the chemicals you put on your skin to be absorbed in to your blood stream. Do you know what potentially harmful toxins might be lurking in your bathroom cupboard and make up bag? Being informed will simply allow you to make more intelligent and conscious choices for yourself, your family, and the planet. Check out our Pinterest board here to learn more about toxin free beauty choices or overhaul your make up bag with new eco-friendly products from online store Nourished Life.

GET MOVING10. GET MOVING
For some of us that might mean dusting off the joggers and enjoying the routine of a morning walk or jog. For others it might mean stretching out at a yoga class, sweating it out at Crossfit or hitting the squash court. Besides the proven physical benefits, exercise is also an excellent de-stressor and mood enhancer.

11. CONNECT WITH YOUR COMMUNITY
Don’t be a stranger! Have you introduced yourself to your neighbour, volunteered at your local Aged care home or animal shelter or supported your local food co-op? Make some  time to meet the people in your local community and make a difference at the same time.

BOOK A HOLIDAY12. CHANGE YOUR SCENERY!
Whether it’s a night away, a short break or your dream holiday…. Plan a trip away from your usual routine and use the time to relax and set some new intentions.

13. CHECK UP…ON YOUR TEMPLE!
When was the last time you saw your dental hygienist? Had that pap smear you’re avoiding? Or had some blood tests to check for any deficiencies? You won’t value your health until you don’t have it, so make your wellbeing your #1 priority.

flowers14. PAMPER YOURSELF
Celebrate your achievements, your growth and just being you…. Buy yourself some flowers, indulge in a massage, book a facial or enjoy a long, hot bath with candles. And exhale…
